Why Emma Stone?

Don*t get me wrong, Emma Stone is pretty. BUT I don*t think she was suitable for this role.
She is pretty but not like the kind of woman where u would say: wow, a man like Ryan Gosling has to fight for her attention....
Plus she was at that time maybe a bit too young for Gosling?
What do u think?

I am sure there are thousands of 30-22(their real ages at time of production) couples...so, no I don’t think there were any age issues.

Additionally her character was probably 24 or 25.

I think she was a fantastic choice for the role. Not really understanding your logic in a guy like Ryan having to fight for her. Why not? Ryan's character was a womanizer and she was the one who challenged him, and then made him like her when they got to know each other better.

It truly says a lot if you think he's too good for her because of his looks.

Ryan played a guy who could get any woman he wanted. Of course someone who seemed to be desinteressted, challenged him. But that girl needs to be damn hot. Like I said, Emma ist pretty but she is not a ten.

In real life Ryan wouldn't bei interested in her.

Yeah well to many guys out there (myself included) Emma Stone is damn hot. So sounds like me like you're just being opinionated here. When it comes down to it you don't know Ryan personally so you don't have a clue if he'd be interested in her or not. It really doesn't matter because its not about him in real life anyways. These are fictional characters and I like they were a believable couple.

he clearly liked who she was as a person for more than her looks anyways.

Her character was self-confident and self-possessed, very rare and attractive qualities. She wasn’t lingering in that pick-up bar hoping some guy would notice her, like the other ladies in there. She walked in the door, went straight to the guy she wanted and spoke her truth. That was refreshingly bold for a jaded lounge lizard like Gosling’s character.
