Jessica is a massive paedophile. I liked the film but that end bit really annoyed me. If a 17 year old dude gave a picture of a his junk to a 13 year old girl, he'd be in jail.

He's 13 and post-pubescent, so no one who pursues him, fantasizes about him, or sends him nude pictures is a pedophile.

Nitpick all you like; pedophiles (for those of us doing our spelling in the US) are not interested in people who have reached puberty.

There's far too much criminalizing of normal/understandable behavior these days, especially when it comes to boys, much of it resulting from the general feminization of society and especially in education where a child may have only female teachers all the way to college. In addition to the greatly increased likelihood of having only a single female parent at home.

Does everyone do it? No. Do some people do things like that? Yes, especially if they already know each other well. Should she go to jail or be a registered sex offender for life? No. She might regret it later, esp if he makes copies of the pictures to pass around, although that seems unlikely under the circumstances. But these days, lots of kids send nude pictures of themselves to each other every day. There's no good reason to have conniptions over it.
It's also worth pointing out that even statutory rape laws have been made more sensible over the years, recognizing things like pre-existing relationships and the amount of difference in ages, not just a fixed line. In part because people figured out it was stupid to automatically regard an 18-year-old boy as a criminal just because his long-time girlfriend hadn't quite turned 18 too, yet.
A better question overall might be, what happens to the guy who she was originally planning to give the pictures to, if he happened to open the envelope and look at them without knowing in advance what they were? There are people who think he would be guilty of "kiddie porn" at that point, regardless. And they're crazy.
Let's say you have a 12 year old daughter. An 18 year old male sends her pictures of his dick.

I did say the laws recognize age difference, not just a rigid line. 18 and 16 is not the same as 25 and 16, or 18 and 12.
Also, what if my 12-year-old daughter first sent a nude picture of herself to that guy? Is he presumed guilty just because he has a phone or computer that received it? Is there ANYTHING he could do, ANYONE he could report it to, that wouldn't figure HE'S actually the guilty one? Why isn't SHE guilty of anything?
We should also never forget that people including children can be devious. Perhaps especially girls, really. I know, I have a sister. At that age, if the technology had existed, she wouldn't have been beyond coming on to an older guy and threatening that if he didn't reciprocate she would accuse him of doing what he actually refused to do. And who would believe HIM over HER?
