Why did he act like he didn't know his daughter in the opening cafe scene?
I never did understand why he treated her so formally. He walks in and she sells him cigarettes. Then she serves his sandwich and coffee, and he acted like he didn't know her. He barely even looked at her. ....but during their other scenes together, they got on just fine, interacted with direct dialogue. So this has me scratching my head why he ignored her in the cafe. His own flesh and blood!
It's a weird little detail that has always bugged me.
