The cat is the only reason to watch this movie.

Really great acting skills from kitty's part, but the movie is utterly disgusting. Am I supposed to laugh at the brutal murders of innocent women? What even is this piece of *beep* This *beep* movie is not only misogynistic, but it also depicts schizophrenia as a bunch of idiotic and deceitful cliches. Here's the fact: mentally ill people are far more likely to be victims of crime rather than perpetrators. Heey, if you're gonna make a film about a women-murdering schizophrenic with mommy issues (of course he has mommy issues), could you maybe at least not make a cringe-inducing embarrassing nitwit out of him? Could you at least not portray a mentally ill character as a stupid lonely moron? What is wrong with the person who wrote a script for this *beep* movie.

It's Hollywood; it has to use cliches and various plot mechanics to make the characters likable within the bounds of an inherently unlikable situation. Had the movie made Jerry less "innocent" in his nature, and made him the victim instead by not having him commit any serious crimes, it would have been a very different movie. Perhaps a better one, perhaps not.

For something that is marketed as a "comedy", I feel it's badly pigeon-holed. It plays out more like a melodramatic slasher film with a couple of tension-breaking elements of humor.

As for the cat being the best actor... both he and Bosco play their respective roles well, and that was a good job by Ryan as he voiced both of them, which is appropriate given that they are parts of his own psyche.

So, no, it's not a particularly accurate film, but it's within the bounds of possibility, and that's enough to keep it grounded, personal preferences of viewers notwithstanding.

It's a dark comedy, there's many movies like this (check out God bless america) I don't think it's saying all mentally ill people are capable of this but ones that are that are in a situation like him (family history of mental illness, ptsd from an abusive father and helping his mother kill herself, and living alone with no one to make sure he's taking his meds) are at the highest risk to commit these murders.
