in the beginning of the ep, when Lydia, Malia, Scott, Liam (w/ Peter in the room as well) are talking about Scott biting Stiles to get him through the rift, Peter says "WE'RE THE ONLY ONES LEFT IN BEACON HILLS"....
huh? was there a time jump that i'm forgetting or is there an episode that i missed where it was conveyed/implied or even outright shown that the whole town was already empty of people?
The writers seem to have left that little detail out of the earlier episodes. The writers are good at doing that sort of thing.
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
Then at the end of the episode Scott says they're the only ones left in Beacon Hills... 1 second later the sheriff is coming through the door.
Maybe they mean the only ones left in the pack? Otherwise it would have been nice to see the hospital deserted, empty streets, anything really to show that it's just them left.

shareIt came out of nowhere and was a rookie 'show, don't tell' screenwriting mistake.
These kind of 'end-of-times' story arcs on low-budget shows never work. Supernatural season 5 couldn't really show us the apocalypse unraveling itself because they couldn't afford to. The same with Buffy and the first Evil.
But this was far worse.
And a continuation of one terrible episode after another (except for those few scenes about Stiles that were actually emotional).
In two weeks we'll see Stiles again, though most likely for the last time. Only one more filler episode to plough through!

I was scratching my head too. Deaton? Scott didn't waste a thought on him. Lydia's mom? She wasn't crying - she has only STILES in her head, nothing else. All their other friends?
Did they somehow warn them? Let them evacuate the city?
And instead of getting EVERYONE who is left in the city together, they sit on the table and let the Sheriff walk the empty streets and Theo left in the police station all alone. What the *beep* is this?
I suppose Deaton and Lydia's mom could already have been taken and they no longer remember them so don't miss them... but I doubt it.

That was a little odd, and when people were taken this episode, there didn't seem to be any alternate memories placed for their disappearance, almost like the Ghost riders didn't even care at that point, or remembering so many other taken people has dulled the effect that the ghost riders have.
shareI got the impression most people in the town have indeed been taken (or left).
The sheriff station was empty. The sheriff was still around because plot armor to further his story, and maybe since he was in the invisible room and started bringing back stuff that had been "disappeared" makes him somewhat "immune" at that particular point, idk.
The train station stuff shows that Canaan was a town everyone basically "forgot," including pretty much everyone who lived there, until Stiles was able to tell Scott and such about it from the other side. It was a ghost town that no one knew existed anymore, and I think they are saying that Beacon Hills is just about to get to that point until they are stopped.
