Did the ghost riders just stop making people forget ?

At what point did the ghost riders just be like whatever, we're gonna disappear the whole town anyway, we'll just stop erasing memories of people. Because they couldn't remember Stiles or Peter but now the entire town is empty and they're not just wandering around like hey why are we living in an empty town, they don't seem to be having any trouble remembering the thousand other people that were taken recently. (ie Liam still remembers Hayden and Mason and Scott still remembers his mom)

It's always difficult with Teen Wolf to expect logic or continuity from the writers. The writers don't seem to have a clue about their sloppy writing.

I think either A the gr were planning on taking them anyway..so why go through the trouble..or B the GR were planning on killing them..like when Mali said to Scott..why didn't they take you? And he said cuz he wasn't trying to..he was trying to kill me... Or something like that.
