Ok so how come everyone was forgotten in the beginning including Stiles. But now those who are erased are still remembered like Scott's mother. Her life wasn't erased.... I'm confused what's up with the inconsistency or did I miss something?
shareThe inconsistency is because of inconsistent writing. The writers of Teen Wolf are completely unconcerned with continuity from one episode to another.

I think it's because when the ghost riders get closer to wiping out entire towns, they operate more indiscriminately. So basically I think they are more careful in the beginning, and less concerned about full memory wipes when pretty much everyone is gone anyway.
