Katie Holmes v Blair Brown and other actresses

I thought that Katie Holmes was very poorly cast as Jackie. She seemed totally out of her depth in such an iconic role. It's not her fault, she did her best, but the task was too big for her. Why?She lacked the range to play Mrs Kennedy. She was just not credible. At no point did I believe her performance.

If you have ever seen Blair Brown's portrayal of Jackie in the 1980s miniseries Kennedy, or even Joanne Whalley in A Woman named Jackie, then you will know what I mean.It was like asking a girl to do a woman's job. An honourable mention should go to Jacqueline Bisset playing a thinly disguised Jackie (Lizzie Cassidy) in The Greek Tycoon.

I thought that Katie Holmes brought a very little girlish quality to her role. I thought Katie looked a little lost in the chlothing, almost like she was in a Jackie costume, but all that aside I think she was still charismatic as Jackie. My eye went to her in every scene she was in.
I do agree that when you compare Katies performance to other performances, Katie seems to be lacking. I remember A woman named Jackie and Joannes performance it was spot on. Also does anyone remember the made for tv movie that came out about 10 years ago lauren holly played Ethel and i think Roma Downey played Jackie, but i cant remember. Any way who ever the actress was did an excellent job playing jackie
