Joe's parents were not born in Ireland.
I watched this whole series in one day and it was extremely good. Including characters and great portrayals of Monroe, Hoover, Giancana, Dulles, etc...
There was one error which seemed a little stupid. When Joe goes off on his tirade after he's become Ambassador to England, he says, "When my parents came over in steerage... this mick is going to the White House".
His parents weren't born in Ireland. They were born in Boston to Irish immigrants. PJ Kennedy was born here.
Joe Kennedy didn't grow up poor either. He was from a middle-class family, his dad was a ward boss, and he attended Boston Latin School and went to Harvard. He was a college-educated white-collar guy, that simply invested in bootlegging and collected a return on investment. He was not a low-class Irish hooligan gangster who was actually INVOLVED in bootlegging.
Everything else was spot-on accurate but Joe's comments about his parents, and also in the Charlestown scene were innaccurate when he talks about it "being a hell-hole" and "starting at the bottom".
