Is there anyone who really looks like JFK?

Neither Greg Kinnear nor Bruce Greenwood

reply

Just because YOU dont think Greg Kinnear looks like Kennedy, doesn't mean others dont. He looks very much like him, more than anyone else. I cannot believe the resemblance. Better than Martin Sheen too, who portrayed Kennedy in 1978.
I dont need you deciding for all of us OK?

Martin Sheen played JFK in 1983, not 1978!

You should check your facts next time.

The 1983 Series is vastly superior to this soap opera; maybe because it was a British production with US actors.

But also because of Martin Sheen and Blair Brown's resemblance to JFK and Jacqui; and remember that in 1983 there were a lot more people around who were around when the real Kennedys were around

You have to see Vincent Gardenia as J. Edgar Hoover; understated but uncanny, eerie and v frightening; especially the Christmas Dinner episode

There was an even worse Hollywood TV series around the same time as the 1983 one; starring Jacqueline Smith from Charlie's Angels.
NY Times said at the time that: The Brits get Martin Sheen, Blair Brown and Vincent Gardenia... we get Jacqueline Smith; how did that happen and why does Hollywood do this"... words to that effect

reply

Sorry, it was Jaclyn Smith; not Jacqueline

She also did a derisory series on Florence Nightingale

Also, I was living in the UK at the time and I seem to remember that "Kennedy" was shown in 1982 in the UK as part of the launch of the Central TV network that made the series, but it aired in the US on the 20th anniversary of JFK's assination

reply

More important than look like JFK; Greg Kinnear is void of Kennedy's sex appeal.

reply

kinnear looked a little bit like him, but katie holmes looks nothing like jackie

reply

How can you say that? Holmes and Jackie Kennedy looked practically identical in some photos.

it is one thing having an someone look like the person they are depicting and another that they can act and have some pulling power as an actor. I thought Bobby had the least resemblance to the actual man. He looked like bugs bunny

reply

greg Kinnear is flat in this, portrays an unhappy, marked by some heavy destiny that he has to carry, and it´s only that. And as someone said, this looks more like a soap opera. I´m gonna see it uuntil the end, but i´s a tiny bit dissapointing. With these actors, it should have been a lot better. Holmes is also very flat, Bobby is an interesting carachter, at best, and that´s it

I've always thought that if, done up correctly, Mark Wahlberg would make a decent JFK.

reply

Kinnear came about as close as anyone will. JFK had some unsual features (including facial fat deposits and swelling due to his use of steroids) that are hard to replicate. Actually, from the pictures I've seen of the younger JFK (when he was thinner and had less facial puffiness), Greenwood was probably a pretty good representation of what JFK looked like underneath the facial distortion caused by the steroids.

Back in 1974 William Devane played an excellent JFK in the TV movie The Missiles of October

This is just my opinion but I think certain pictures of Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton kind of have his look.

reply

Greg Kinnear looked very much like Jack and he had his voice down as well. I do agree that Vincent Gardenia was a much better Hoover than the guy in this movie.

reply

I have to say I think the resemblence between Kinnear and JFK is striking. I also think Katie Holmes looks remarkably like Jackie at many times in this series. I'm really enjoying it. I didn't see the Martin Sheen version, but IMO this show here is exceptional.

reply

Although he is not an actor...i always thought former NFL Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman had an uncanny resemblance to JFK.

reply

Tom Berenger would have, if he were younger, and likewise William Devane. Although Devane looks more like Bobby. As for Pepper looking like Bobby, I thought he did a good job, especially the teeth. I met Bobby way back when he was running for Senate and he had tremendous teeth!

Interesting series, although not ground breaking, skirting Marilyn's 'convenient demise' and blurring through the assassination with Oswald acting alone.

JFK was unique. A year ago I noticed actor Eddie Redmayne most closely resembles young JFK. Check out young JFK here.
