I was hoping Cate would have lost a little weight in there

Did she mention it? I don't remember.

reply

I was expecting that too! I didn't hear her or Tyler mention it and he has no shame when it comes to her weight.

reply

I'm sure Tyler was hoping she'd lose some weight too.

reply

Most people don't lose weight in rehab, regardless of what it's for. Especially not a 30 day stint.

reply

I would assume these health professionals would encourage it for overall Heath benefits. Especially in a patient that needs it.

reply

I'm sure the weight loss wasn't really the focus. She's been depressed and has anxiety. You have to tackle the root of her issues before worrying about her weight gain and over eating. Once she works that stuff out she may be able to start working on eating better and exercising.

reply

Well I think exercising should have been a part of her rehab. Not because of her weight issues. But because of the positive effects that exercising can give you on your mental health.

reply

A little birdie told me that there is usually a designated time set everyday for physical activity. Part of the daily routine while in treatment.

reply

Yeah, I thought so too. If Catelynn lost no weight in 30 days, imaginr her calorie intake to sustain that weight. I haven't seen the latest episodes yet, but if people are saying she clearly lost none, she either didn't partske in exercise and continued to overeat, or she did exercise and still overate.

Maybe she lost some, but it's not noticable after only 30 days? I'm not trying to pick this apart for shaming reasons at all. I just know her unhealthy eating habits are intermeshed with her mental health issues, and if she really works a treatment program for them, some of the unhealthy weight should come off.

reply

Wow. How heavy are any of you? A safe weightless is 1-2lbs per week. That equates to 8 pounds in 30 days. She is a heavier girl so eight pounds is not going to be noticeable. She needs to get her insides healthy before she can worry about the outside.

reply

Uh, I basically said what you did, so why are you replying to me? I said I haven't even seen this episode, and I have no idea if she lost weight and it's just not noticeable yet. Hypothesizing that she lost none which means her calorie intake was still terrible is a totally reasonable response.

If Catelynn was realy serious about losing weight, she could lose 10-12 safely in one month, given how overweight she is. That might have happened, and yeah, I don't even think that would be noticeable.

The fact that she has come out of "rehab" still making unhealthy choices shows I was right, and she's not serious yet about getting healthier. Acting like she needs months of treatment for depression before she can lose weight is ridiculous too. Part of her getting healthier mentally includes getting healthier physically. It's not about shaming, it's about the whole package of getting healthy.

And why in the world do you want to know what we posters weigh???

reply

I'm not sure how much weight Cate would have lost in only 30 days. I think the main focus of the trip was to deal with her depression and guilt. Yes, losing weight would help with the depression, but that was not their main focus at this point. Plus, Cate always wears baggy clothes anyway, so even if she lost 5 pounds you probably wouldn't notice.

Just my observations.

reply

People should stop talking about Cate's weight. No wonder the poor woman is depressed.

reply

In one month, you can really only safely lose about 8 to 10. I wasn't as big as Cate at the time, but when I started losing weight a while back, it really didn't show until I lost about 25 to 30. It doesn't happen overnight.

reply

If she lost the weight that would fix most of her problems but she won't even try. I thought she said she was going to commit to weight watchers, yet she was stuffing her mouth with crab rangoons and enough Chinese food that could easily feed two people, maybe even a third. I am sure the pot smoking doesn't help either if she is getting the munchies all the time. I used to feel sorry for her, but if she won't do anything about it then don't complain about it.

reply

I don't think it would fix most of her problems but itd prob help her to start feeling a little better and make her want to do other things to help herself.

reply

Losing weight would not fix most of Cate's problems. Excess weight is a symptom of her problems, not the root cause.

Losing weight will not erase her childhood. Her father walked out on her and her mother was emotionally abusive.

Losing weight will not cure postpartum depression. In addition to that depression, Cate is no doubt experiencing the loss of Carly all over again, more forcefully this time because Nova is an ever-present reminder of the child she relinquished.

Cate is subject to a double-standard regarding her weight because she's female. Gary's weight is discussed here and there, but there are threads dedicated to discussing Cate's weight. She's not nearly as large a person as Gary.

I think Cate might benefit from a combination of therapies - cognitive and medication - and more structure in her life. Since April is so available to watch Nova, a part-time job, just a few hours a day would force Cate to get up at a certain time, shower, dress, and get out the door.

She's hurting and I wish her a thorough recovery.

reply

People prob don't discuss Gary because it's been beaten to death and is a lost cause. Catelynns new found lack of enthusiasm is something I honestly hadn't been concerned about until recently. I mean it was clear she never had goals but she seems to be more careless than ever when she can't be. She chose to have another child. Like seven years later at that when she should have learned from the first mistake and done better. I'm questioning Tyler too. Why were they thinking??? Nova isn't a publicity stunt. She is a baby and they need to get it together.
