Jen and Larry again

I think they are the sweetest people. But they are at it again about Ryan finding someone.
They act as if that will be the magic curr to help him mature or something.
That is not how it works. To have a healthy relationship, you have to already have some maturity and know what you want in life.
He seems so lost, with little to no ambition.
Him settling down now would be a complete disaster. They seem like smart people, so surprised they don't see that.
I just don't know what would motivate him. He won't even go to his son's ball games. Geez!!

I jut don't even care to see them on tm anymore honestly. They don't really serve a purpose imo. Ryan will never be a good dad. Let's move on.

It's crazy to me that they seem to care more about him finding a girlfriend than finding a job. He has a better chance of finding decent girl if he has a stable job

reply

Me too! No decent woman is going to want a bum. Maybe ten years ago a nice girl would be fine with that since lots of 18 year olds are bums, but at 28, no. His number one priority should be a steady job.

I think Larry and Jen are good people, but a little disillusioned when it comes to their son. Ryan's first priority is to be an INVOLVED father. That means attending Bentley's games, seeing him regularly, etc.

His second priority should be get a medical evaluation. He shows all the signs of depression and possibly bi-polar disorder. He probably needs medication to help with his depression and listlessness. Of course, it could be that he doesn't suffer from a chemical imbalance and instead suffers from being a spoiled child.

His third priority should be to find a steady job. He worked previously in 16 & Pregnant (a mechanic I think?) so he does have some skills. He is 28 years old and healthy with no debt and lives at home. There is absolutely NO reason he should not be working full-time.

His fourth priority should be to move out of Mommy and Daddy's and get an apartment.

Only after all four of these are met should he even CONSIDER finding a girlfriend.

I was thinking the exact same thing - he seems like he has depression and should talk to a doctor. It's not just one thing that's suffering because of his mindset..like being an active father, it's EVERYTHING. He doesn't work, he doesn't go to school, he isn't involved with his son, he doesn't seem interested in friends or dating. If I was his parent I'd be concerned about all of that stuff...not just about having a girlfriend and that'll solve everything, because it definitely won't.

Wasn't he in a car accident a while back? I've always wondered if he had some lasting damage from that, he seems really out of it compared to how he used to be, not that he was ever that great but now he seems extra vacant. Could also be drugs.

Also, Ryan never really seemed thrilled to be a dad to begin with, and while I'm sure he loved Bentley I doubt he's in a race to have more anytime soon.

reply

That's what I was thinking.. maybe he developed an addiction after the accident? His appearance is quite shocking now when you compare him to older episodes. He seems very skinny and unhealthy.

reply

Glad I'm not the only one wondering if there is an addiction or something going on. He just seems really out of it now, his eyes are really off.

reply

He needs to be kicked out on his ass to fend for himself and see how much of a "man" he is.

reply

Maybe they know the only thing that might motivate him is a good girl.

reply

I agree, plus he probably gets money from MTV

reply

Is it me or does Ryan seem to have gray hair recently?

MTV's Teen Mom and his parents are his only income. He is almost 30 and is very unmotivated and it is sad. Unfortunately what is sad is that there will be some girl with low self-esteem who would come around and find interest in Ryan. He just has not met her yet yet.

reply

He's a cute guy with great parents. I don't think the girl needs to have too low of a self esteem to fall for him. Plus I'm sure he has something to offer.
