Why does he act as if he didn't have some part in Ryan's upbringing and the way that he turned out? It's evident that Ryan was spoiled as a child and was spoiled past adulthood. Larry called Ryan a bloodsucking leech. How does someone speak like that about their own child? I'm thinking something else besides Ryan's lax attitude caused their rift. I've only watched this show for the past 2 or 3 yrs., and it always seemed like Larry was irritated by Ryan. Something must have ignited the fire.
I have a feeling that Ryan's mom is the one that has enabled him more then his dad. I think Larry just went along with it for the most part. I'm not saying he wasnt part of the problem, but I do have to wonder if to keep the peace with his wife he just let it go on for this long and now he's finally snapped.
I never got the feeling that it was his lax attitude, I got the feeling it was because he was tired of Ryan having no ambitions and mooching off his parents, I'm sure there is more to the story then we are seeing, b/c Larry was really pissed.

It has seemed to me from the first season of Teen Mom that it is Ryan's mom who has enabled him. Larry has been telling Ryan to man up for years. I remember Maci being upset that Ryan was taking her to court for more custody because she knew it wasn't Ryan who'd be spending time with Bentley, but Ryan's mom. Ryan is an only child, wonder if they wanted more kids and couldn't? That would explain why his mom is so hovering.
Fathers don't usually coddle their children the way mothers do. Especially traditional men. Their family reminds me of ny grandparents. My grandpa ended up with two sons on drugs and lived at home well into their forties despite the fact that my grandparents were amazing parents and provided for their children. My dad and uncle just chose to throw their lives away. My grandma enabled them by letting them stay at home forever and gave them money, especially my dad (her first born son). I've heard my gramps say some really mean things to them in anger. It's best not to baby your children and if the other parent wants to dicipline their child you have to remind yourself that it's their child too and they have every right to decipline without you coming in to save the day. I always want to save my daughter from getting in trouble with her dad but I stop myself when I remember that I cant let her getaway with everything, i'll only be hurting her in the long run. That's what happened to Ryan I believe.
yeah something more def happened here. i agree with another poster who said that the"allen wrench" explanation was code for "i stole his tools to sell for drig money."
That's immediately what I thought too. Larry gave few clues, but calling Ryan a liar was one. A liar bad enough to be kicked out? That and "blood-sucking leech" when the fight is over an Allen wench just sounds like selling stuff for drugs. I doubt Ryan would move out over an Allen wench being scratched or lost. I can't think of another issue with it that could be bad enough that finally gets him kicked out.
Plus a huge clue: Ryan's appearance. Those eyes are not the eyes of someone who is sober.
I bet they either caught him with drugs or caught him stealing to support his habit. Then he may have tried to lie about it even more to cover up his actions. He was really really mad at Ryan. It had to have been something major like that. He knows his son is a bum and is finally fed up. Problem is, this should've been done by Larry years ago, then Jen wouldn't have been able to continue babying him and failing to allow him to grow up.
