Tyler's Scenes
He looks like he has nothing to live for when Cate is talking to him. I legitimately feel bad for him now. You can tell he feels trapped.

shareI just finished watching this week's episode and was really struck when she kept going on about the horse and why it's better for her to just own one. He just kept saying "Right." "Right." It seems to me that since she came back from Arizona he is walking on eggshells around her and is afraid to say anything. I don't remember exactly what he said he was told when she first came back - something along the lines of it's her recovery and she has to work it and he shouldn't bring up negative things or her past. I get that part but it seems like he feels he has no say over anything anymore. Like he can't tell her "no, that's not a good idea." He tap danced around it and put a suggestion out there, but at some point you are allowed to put your foot down when your spouse keeps pulling crazy stunts (buying a pig then giving it up).
shareThat was such a powerful scene. You could just tell Tyler was screaming internally. He did a good job restraining himself, maybe too good of a job. It seems like a switch went off in Catelynn when they got married, like now she has him tied down and she can do whatever she wants. She gave in to her desire to be lazy and pig out and takes Tyler and their relationship for granted. Is Catelynn not familiar with divorce? She will be.
shareTyler really does seem to be trying very hard, I'll give him that. Marriage is a partnership, and he's pretty much in it alone. I would love to see them both in couples counseling, with a legitimate counselor and not that Kathleen quack.
And I emphatically agree with "maybe too good of a job"... if Cate can convince herself that oh well, all this doesn't really bother him, she may have an extra-rude awakening the day he can't manage to keep letting it all roll off his back anymore. His life is as joyless as Cate claims hers is, but he's bearing up much better.
I will give Tyler credit for putting up with Cate for as long as he has. He seemed dead inside during that conversation. There's only a matter of time until he snaps, MTV or now MTV.
shareYeah. I understand that some of what he said in the past was way too harsh. But I also understand that most of the way he says things has to do with his personality, and from what I've seen, both of his parents. Neither of his parents seem to know how to express an opinion without it coming across as abrasive.
shareI never thought about how his parents are the same way, but you're totally right.
shareI completely agree.
shareI always say they seem more like brother and sister than newlyweds, but they're starting to seem more like father and daughter. It's so uncomfortable to watch.
shareIt does seem that way and is very weird. I also have depression & anxiety and I ride as well. She'w not my horse but I've bonded with her and understand where C is coming from. Volunteering and riding are to diff things
