Fallen: Book Made Into Movie THE CAST
First to make one thing clear so that misunderstandings can be prevented: I like Fallen as a book [I also like Twilight but that's irrelevent at the moment].π
Someone posted that people have a "pre-conceived notion on who should play which character". I get that. I can understand that when you have someone really specific in mind you will most probably be disapointed.
But I didn't. I didn't have any actors or models linked with my image of the characters. And I REALLY have no problem with Irvine because I can actually see him as Daniel. But there's a CHILD (this coming from a 16-year-old...)cast to play centuries old, seductive Cam!!! I can't be ok with that.
I mean, Harrison Gilbertson does look cute in some photos but cute for your shy, boy-next-door high school classmate, sitting next to you in Lit. Not cute for a bad-ass, picture perfect, slightly damaged and super sexy fallen Angel!!! π
This coming from a DanielGrigori fan...
And Luce... I didn't expect- Nope. Just no. Look at this Addison whatever. I'm sure she's a great actress. But she's not Luce material. Now, I'm easy-going and didn't even have anything in mind for Luce except the obvious dark haired brunette with pale skin.
Thing is, I am delighted that Irvine has been casted as Daniel BECAUSE he has the whole damaged-angel look going. Or he can manage it if he tries anyway.. But this Luce-wannabe? If she can manage the depressed, misunderstood, confused-with-her-own-existence and desperately-in-love-with-a-stranger look then I'll stop talking. And I do talk a lot. π
All in all, making Fallen into a movie was a bad idea in the first place. I was indifferent with the whole motion of turning paranormal, young adult books into low-budget movies with the dream of one of them selling half the tickets Twilight did. I even watched some of them. But Fallen is the first paranormal romance I ever read (I was 12!-) so I experienced it on a whole new level. And now, just as the idea of a movie starts growing on me -BOOM- an irrelevent cast comes out of nowhere to knock me breathless.
So now I don't even know if I'm watching this... Fallen was too good of a book for me to be spoiled by a movie, even if it turns out alright.
PS I'm obviously ONLY judging the actors on their looks and their presumed ability to bring the book characters to life. I haven't watched any movies starring them so I can't talk about their acting. Maybe they're good. I wouldn't know.
