I've seen the movie. (In Philippines)! Questions anyone?

The movie is heavily promoted here. It even ranked #1 in the country.
I have not read the book but, the movie is fine. Probably not one of the best but, it is worth a sequel. Towards the end of the film, the story, felt like, was just about to begin.

Yeah, sure. There are dull times. (Expect that!) A friend of mine didn't even like the dialogue, maybe because it seemed amateurish sometimes. Nonetheless, I can't say if it's plain because, somehow it is beyond. But to juxtapose it across YA adapted novels, this film places itself around Twilight if only it had a bigger audience.

Feel free to ask a question below! :)

The actors and some people behind the film went here to promote.

So how does it end? Does it end with cliffhanger? I heard some describe it as a very sad ending. I don't mind spoilers.

Todd died. I haven't read the books but, he was the love interest of Penn half of the film. He died in the library due to fire after research of the lead guy's past. (Cam set the fire). Yes, it was a cliffhanger. Cam and the lead guy broke off into a fight. Cam (can't blame him though) supposed that the lead girl will die if ever reunited again with the lead guy. And, the teacher, Ms. Sophia, i think. She is the villain. A fanatic, as described, she wanted to kill the lead girl and, wanted the lead guy to not break the hierarchy of beings.

The lead girl's recent reincarnation not being baptized by Christianity of some sort has also something to do of why she's in danger more so now.

I'm sorry there were a lot of names. I can't remember now.

How was the acting? Did the story flow well?

For a non-reader, before the proper film started, there was this explanation of how there are fallen angels, which is a help but, not too important actually. Then, the film begins with Luce being admitted to Sword and Cross because of shadows she had been seeing ever since she was eight but grew to be more sinister as she approaches her 17th birthday. Someone also died, she supposed her shadows to be the cause of it (all the more reason why she should be admitted [though this part of the plot is revealed not immediately, the viewers also experience Luce's recollection of memories confused with other memories she had on previous lives]). But, later to be revealed who (check my reply on Lulu).

There is a struggle with balancing the confusion of the lead and the emotions she feels towards other characters (especially Daniel). But, the actress tries so hard to balance a neutral tone to emphasize the state she is in.

Acting is fine, sometimes over the top which seems silly but it should not be a concern throughout.

HELLO!!!

I ALSO SAW THE MOVIE BUT I DID NOT UNDERSTAND THE BEGINNING/INTRO OF THE MOVIE ABOUT HOW THE FALLEN STARTED AND THE WAR. TT_TT BECAUSE MY SEAT MATE KEPT ON TALKING. AND I TOTALLY FORGOT AND DISTRACTED ABOUT THE INTRO.
CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT IT? JUST A SUMMARY please I want it badly. 😭😩

I read all the books. The 'war' starts when the ArchAngel Lucifer becomes jealous of how God (called The Throne in this book) creates humans and loves them despite humans doing all kinds of bad things. So he starts questioning all of the Angels blind adoration for God and says they should be given a choice. So it is decided that all Angels will have to vote, whether to adore the Throne or to have a bit more freedom of choice. So there is a rollcall, starting from the lower levels of Angels, to make a choice, the Throne or Lucifer, but after a while, the Throne gets fed up and angry, especially when Daniel refuses to chose, and chooses his love for Lucinda instead. Then the Throne casts out all the Angels, no matter what they chose, to live on Earth rather than in heaven. Daniel is punished by falling in love over and over, only to see her die, every 17 years. And since the angels all chose evenly more or less, and Daniel is a powerful angel, his choice will tip the balance. This is why if Luce dies, many believe that Daniel will then finally choose, and they can then get on with it, rather than live in limbo, on Earth rather than heaven.
The day that Luce is not part of the Covenant between humans and God, which is a ritual, like baptism, to mark a person as member of a specific faith, then when she dies, it is for good, no reincarnation.
Hope this helps.

Due to the movie being released in your country how do you think it was ranked and do you think it might hit the box office since part 2 of Fallen series Torment is already on its way? How was the ending of the film? Is it promising? Was Luce sent away at the end?

reply

Hmmm, as to ranking, I can't say why but, when its time, the Philippines released few movies alongside with other foreign films and, among, the movie Fallen has been favored by many.

Worthy of a sequel? It is but, not so much. Somehow, a sequel for the film is of necessity at the moment.

reply

The ending seems to be like any YA adapted novels end with. Cliffhanger, another chapter and etc.

Was the plot promising? Yeah. But, I expected a much better execution.

The case of Luce, she will go into hiding in some place known to the lead guy. It was mentioned where but, I forgot. I saw the film almost a month ago, sorry. And, I wasn't able to read the novel nor I can find time to.

She has to hide because, Satan (maybe) is looking for her. I don't know. I need to rewatch it again.
