so why did sandler actually have a ring with him and in his pocket?

I missed a few minutes at the start maybe I'm wrong, but i noticed that they never answered the question on why he carries a ring with him?
Was he actually married or did he actually just like carrying a ring with him?

He was going to be married but then he overheard his gf say stuff about him and his family so he left there and went to a bar with the ring still on, then after talkin to a woman who thinks he is married he realises its an easy way go get women to have a one night stand with him.

Fighting on the internet is like trying to lick ur elbow. You can try it but it looks stupid.

The entire opening scene answers this. He left a girl at the alter because he found out she cheated on him.

I think the ring was in his pocket because he was washing his hands when the kid cut his leg and just threw the ring in his pocket...

THe ring was a good way to pick uo women without having to commit.
