Adam Sandler movies - Disgusting depiction of gay people

I was disgusted after seeing the Adam Sandler movie "Just Go with It" yesterday because of his negative depiction of gay people in the movie.

I would like to ask Adam Sandler why he depicts such stupid, inaccurate stereotypes as the husband of Nicole Kidman in the movie "Just Go with It," and the hotel receptionist in "Just Go with It" who were both negative gay stereotypes of disgusting men acting like idiots and embarrassing me as a gay man.

In my opinion the whole movie was in poor taste and not funny at all.

I would like to hear your opinion also.

Still think you just shouldn't watch them. What other movies of his have you seen, that also do this?

.. "Here I am, brain the size of a planet and they ask me..."

The movie didn't present Heterosexua; people in a very good light either. (Look at the ridusculous lenghths Sandler's characters went to just to get laid0

reply

oh come on,

this movie makes fun of men (a women must look hot in a bikini), women (needs the shoes in all colors), plastic surgery (all his customers) and on and on and on

calm down and get over it. it's a comedy and not a documentary

I have "a pair" me too and I still felt offended by this movie. Being openly gay has nothing to do with accepting-with-a-warm-smile every single stupid thing they put in a movie

and besides, gay people here have been ONLY represented by freaks. Main characters in this movie are acting stupidly too, that's ok, but they are not portraited as freaks-only

To summarize, i didnt like this movie, conclusion was shallow AND i gave a 5/10 just because of nicole kidman.

Okay here is something to think about. Something I thought about just recently. Everyone has opinions that offend different people. With this comes opinions in comedy. Some people find this depiction of gay people funny possibly because they are homophobic. You don't need to be offended by it. Just take it out of context, look at it objectively and think "Not everyone agrees with me." I have to do that a lot because most movies these days depict things that I do not agree with.

reply

same here.

the only one i had a problem with was the hairdresser.

not because i was offended. but b/c he did a horrible acting job at what he was trying to do.

reply

People are too sensitive. It's a movie.

reply

Have you ever seen the Mardi Gras?

reply

yes i have seen the mardi gras and i also join the national pride every year. i know most people could thinkg there are "freaks" and "queers" everywhere but, hey, lgbt community is not only about drag queens. now dont get me wrong, im totally out of closet and i love drags and dragshows, im just saying that this movie did depict lgbt people only as stupid-shallow ones.

reply

I just don't think the Mardi Gras helps with elimating the stereotypes. I have gay friends who are nothing like you see in Just Go With It and some who are quite flamboyant as well. What they do have in common though, is they don't feel insecure with who they are and can laugh at themselves even with stupid Adam Sandlers movies. Life is too short to take it seriously.

reply

if nobody took things seriously, women would have never fought in a fabric (march 8th) and they would never been given civil rights, and so on for black and gay people (special thanks to sylvia rivera).

reply

So you're saying Adam Sandler movies are a form of oppression?

reply

.....It's just a COMEDY!!

reply

no, im saying you have perfectly understood what i meant and there is no need to write once more, nor is to dismiss the ridiculous "oppression" theory - read again if you really didnt get my post, althought it's quite unlikely.

I watched this piece of garbage because I wanted to see what kids these days consider entertainment.
I agree that it was not funny. Just sad.
But to your request for opinions.
The only queer I saw was the negro hairdresser. He was the only one in the film doing any acting.
Everyone else was shallow and one dimensional.

Agree. Gay men jokes always leave a bad taste in my mouth too.
