Do you think Emma always loved Dexter and accepted being a friend??

I know she loved him like a friend forever, but did she love him throughout those twenty years too? What do you think?
I personally think she always wanted something more, but settled being his friend because she has loved him so much. I think that's why she dated Ian. It was an attempt at trying to move on from Dexter, though it didn't work. That's just my interpretation, especially because I feel the same way about my friend.

Dexter on the other hand took a longer time to realize that Emma was good for him. He just had to screw up his life to realize that.

Yeah, I think she's been in love with him all year long. I can't imagine how painful it was when she watched him dating other women. I really don't understand Dexter though. It seemed that he often needed her, but he wasn't romantically attracted to her until the last 3 years. I guess I'd better read the book.

I agree with most of that, but I think she ended up dating Ian just because he was there. He was available and seemed to like her, so she went out with him. She just never seemed to find a way out of a relationship that wasn't working. How many people go through that?

well i been in love with my friend for 7 years and came to terms last year that he will always look at me as a friend, and till this day i still love him.

I think Emma picked Ian even though he wasn't her type and it wasn't working because subconsciously, she was holding out for Dexter. So yes, Emma was in love with Dexter all along.

Yes, I agree - she always loved him. She tried to move on, but didn't/couldn't.

Read the book. Trust me. It will provide you with SO much more information on both characters than the movie.

I did write a lengthy thread about it - just look for my name.
