The whole story , just 99% of the movie was his DREAM ?

that's sort of what i wish was the case, but i'm pretty sure it was just supposed to be real life with a flashback at the end.

When it flashed back to him waking up I had hoped that the whole twenty years was a dream and he would wake up and immediately love her but I think not.....He was just reminiscing as he took his daughter up the hill.

No, it was all real, Dexter just remembered back to his first day with Emma at the end.

It does start with Emma cycling if that clears things up.

Geez, I thought that too and came here to decipher the ending. I was having a Sliding Doors kind of moment. Or a Twilight-it-was-all-in-the-possible-future kind of moment. But I didn't see any foreshadowing to explain a twist ending, so I was confused.
