Was anyone else impressed with the aging of the characters?

To me, it felt like you didn't really realise how much older they looked until the very end when it shows the flashbacks again, and you get a direct comparison. I like that they made it very distinct that the characters were changing year after year, but the actual aging was subtle enough to be really realistic.

If that makes sense. Just wanted to know if I'm the only one. :)

Yes, fairly, though it felt like they'd aged about 12 years at the most, not 20. I think an obvious and realistic way for the characters to convincingly look late 30's was for them both to have put on some weight, not much, maybe 25 pounds or so.

Very nicely done unlike in J. Edgar where the actors just looked like burn victims.

Yes, every year scene, I would always look at what changed in the characters physically. Amazing make-up artist.

I thought the same, their aging was really well done, really subtle, but when it goes from the starting scene (her on the bike) to college its really noticeable.
