Missing Years?
I noticed they didn't have years for 2002, 2008, and 2010. Did I just miss them or why do you think they weren't included?

shareThey weren't included. I think to show the years they spent Apart and the distance between them.
shareActually, it does include all the years, but was just very briefly and only one scene. E.g. there's this year where Emma was swimming. And that's it, moved on to the next scene, another year. You just really had to be mindful, otherwise, you're not missing much.
shareActually Charmed651 is correct. I just watched it again and there are one or two years where nothing is shown.
share2008 is Dexter sitting with his father in front of the TV, although I didn't spot any on-screen writing that indicates it like the other years. Warning: SPOILERS In 2006, Emma gets in the traffic accident and dies. 2007 shows Dexter fighting in a dance club. Then the next scene, Dexter with a bruised up face and his dad are sitting in front of the TV, and his dad says: "Is this going to be a yearly event, July 15th?". In other words, this is the second time Dexter got depressed over Emma's death and got beaten up in a club fight on July 15th.
However, I too didn't see any scenes for 2002 and 2010.

When Dexter talks to his dad that's the same day that Sylvie finds him on the floor.
In the book she calls his dad to look after him for the day.
Thanks chunkylefunga. It's been a while since I've seen the movie so I don't remember Sylvie finding Dexter on the floor, but I guess that happens (in the movie) in 2007, exactly one year after Emma's death, right? I haven't read the book so it could very well be that in the book, the talk between Dexter and his dad in front of the TV happens one year after Emma's death too. But I think the movie must be different, otherwise his dad's dry remark "Is this going to be a yearly event, July 15th?" doesn't make much sense.

He's on the floor in the movie too yes, exactly one year later after the event.
His dad asks is this going to be a yearly event meaningwill he be getting completely drunk etc. every year on the anniversary of Emma's death.
Warning: SPOILERS!
His dad asks is this going to be a yearly event meaningwill he be getting completely drunk etc. every year on the anniversary of Emma's death.Yes, I know that; I thought that was quite obvious. My point was that it doesn't make sense for the dad to comment on that (in the way he did) if it wasn't already the second time that Dexter got drunk and into a bar fight on the anniversary of Emma's death. (In other words, his dad wouldn't have made that remark if there wasn't already a sign that Dexter might turn it into a habit). Therefore, it must be the second anniversary, i.e. 2008.
