what kind of love is that? I don't get it. If it's because of his handsome face, then Em is very shallow. Dex's personality is definitely not a nice one. He's a playboy and he never gave her a chance until he got divorced and was all lonely. What is it in Dex that attracts Em so much???
Sometimes you can't help you it. I fell for a guy like Dex once. There's just something about being around a certain person that makes you feel good, even when he's not always treating you the way you'd hope. Everyone would always ask me why I was with him when he was such a jerk, but he wasn't a jerk to me, but then I realized he was, I just didn't see it because I was looking at him differently than everyone else.
Being attracted to someone just because he is good-looking does not automatically make a woman shallow. Most of us are attracted to good-looking people, even if we don't know that much about them.
Dexter certainly has his flaws, but he cares about Emma. I thought that the scene at the Mexican restaurant where he was talking about the one thing he most wanted to give her (confidence) was quite touching. And by the time he gets his divorce, he is not simply lonely - he has grown up a great deal and is no longer such a playboy. By that time, he had become much nicer and was much more likable.
Why are so many of the people who post about this movie unwilling to see how much Dexter changes through the years? By missing that, you're missing the heart of the story.
_____ Strip away the phony tinsel of Hollywood and you find the real tinsel underneath.
Your last statement exactly. Dexter had to grow to be with Emma. Maybe Emma shouldn't have had to wait so long, but it was her choice. I don't think she ever thought they'd ever end up together, but good for her for not just settling for whatever else came along.
