wish this board was more active!

I love these types of shows, and talking about the different cases. Just getting started on season 5. The latest episode I saw was on Joey Offutt. Very strange case, but I have a feeling she may still be alive.

I'm open to discussing any of the cases if anyone is lurking around here!

I wish it was more active too. I've tried to post comments on some episodes that I've been watching mornings on ID but no one ever comments back.

The Joey Offutt case was very odd. I can't help but think she killed the child, either accidentally or on purpose. She definitely had a lot of problems and shouldn't have been living on her own.

reply

I definitely don't think she should have been living alone either. They said from the beginning that she was a bit "slow" but never went into detail on that.

I agree as well with your p.o.v that she killed the baby. I believe it may have been an accident perhaps, but I think he died under her care and she freaked out and decided to set the house on fire and take off.

reply

I personally dont think she either purposefully or accidentally killed the baby, set the fire to cover it up then took off and started a new life somewhere else but I think the boyfriend is definitely involved and sadly Joey is probably dead. If I'm correct the show said she was 'slow', I'm not sure how slow she was or what disorder she had but IMO for someone to disappear and start a new life, social security, new identity etc takes a bit of planning and effort so for someone who is 'slow' I don't known how long they would last under the radar and without being caught out?

reply

I also wish these boards were more active. I've seen all the episodes on netflix. My boyfriend and I love the show.

reply

I love the show too but i'm done with this board. No one seems to want to discuss the episodes so what's the point in posting?

reply

the one that stays in my mind is the guy who went cave diving and was never seen again.
I would love to discuss this show with anyone.

Another case that stays with me is the one about Brianna Maitland. She left work late. Got in her car and was never seen again. Her car was found backed into an abandoned farmhouse that was on the side of the highway. A bunch of random people took pictures of the car backed into the farmhouse. Those pictures ended up being the only pictures of the crime scene.

As of this month, Brianna has been missing exactly ten years. I feel bad for her parents and family. I pray they have strong faith.

reply

I'll be active on this board if anyone wants to discuss the cases. I've seen all the episodes at least twice and some a lot more than that.

The Brianna case was definitely one where a rebellious young girl (not troubled as say Leah Peebles) who was really social, trusting, wanted to experiment and got mixed up with the wrong people who were drug dealers/users. I think those people had something to do with her disappearance.

Joey Offutt was one of several cases where a mental disorder contributed to her infant sons death and disappearance. Where she is today is a real mystery. She did talk to people online the show said so maybe she met someone who helped her run away or hurt her in some way. The boyfriend seemed really genuine and broken up. I don't think he had anything to do with it.

reply

I didn't get that from Brianna's disappearance. I think she was the victim of a serial killer. Mthenlack of evidence, including the fact that her body hasn't been discovered, reeks of professional to me, not teenaged drug dealers.

reply

I'll discuss too! I just found this show on Netflix and love it. I have been binge watching for days and can even rewatch many of the episodes. A lot of these cases I recognize from either dateline or 20/20, or I recognize as "ripped for the headlines" episodes of all 3 law and order shows. I am facscinated by these stories.

At first I was put off by the lack of closure, but now I'm just hooked and want other people to speculate with.

Another case that haunts me is the one about Ray Gricar. The lawyer with the red mini cooper who disappeared just months before his retirement. They found his laptop in the river. His brother had commited suicide ten years before.

reply

Agreed. His poor girlfriend. I feel like after gathering the evidence they have that SOMETHING would eventually break. But no such luck so far. It has to be tied to his work as a prosecutor. Someone who felt wrongfully prosecuted must have stalked and killed him. I doubt suicide is what happened. But I feel like he is probably dead and not a walk away.

Are you familiar with the gentleman picked up on criminal charges in New Mexico (I believe it was NM) who refused to identify himself and they thought it was Gricar? It wasn't, but still crazy.

reply

Recently a woman's body was found in New Mexico. With her belongings was her cell phone. The woman left a video message on her cell explaining how she got lost in the desert. I found this story crazy. Her explaination from the grave.

reply

To whom are you referring? I'd like to know her name so I can look into that case.

reply

Yes, me too!
