Anyone else hate it when they do musical episodes ?

I don't hate them but the problem I see occasionally with them, and not just with Bob's but The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad & others that I've seen that use them, is they sometimes don't advance the plot so they just seem like filler.

That seems like an odd thing to say since just as much time goes into writing, performing & animating the songs as would story driven scenes but with Sunday's episode, the plot basically boils down to 'Louise has a fever dream after the family destroys her favorite toy'.

Most are fine like Purple Rain-union, Work Hard or Die Trying, Girl since those episodes' plots revolve around Linda's high school band & competing musicals or they watch a Boyz 4 Now music video, but the musical elements in Flu-ouise seemed out of place inside an already not-so-meaty story.

I don't mind on occasional song; but when it's the whole episode, yeah...I just tune out. For some reason, I get very angry when the Simpsons sing at all. Strange.

I really like musical episodes.

Usually I enjoy them, but I finally got around to the flu ep, and have to agree with the general consensus that it was subpar. A lot of fun visuals but very little story, and what story there was seemed forced. I didn't hate it, but I did lose interest and wander off more than once.

"Look, Alex, we've done a bad thing, okay? Just try and enjoy it."

I don't necessarily hate it but a lot of the songs don't hit my catchy bone so they're just tedious to get through

yap, hate it when that happens ... although in family guy, some of them are quite funny... but still... when its more than 20 seconds long, kinda too much :S

Even so called 'Musical Episodes' will only have 1-2 songs in them. Honestly, just about every song Bobs has ever done has been fantastic imo - original, catchy and often accompanied with amazing visuals.
