Was the ever-pregnant Peggy actually pregnant?

Throughout the film Adams' Peggy is seemingly full term pregnant. Yes the timeline shows she would have had the baby at some point during the presented months shown. Unless what we see is but a mere 3 months or so.

By the end she is no longer pregnant but there is not discussion of her birth.

My mom brought up tonight that maybe she wasn't actually pregnant at all, and that her pregnant appearance was only to help the 'wholesome' values of the cause.

I wonder now if it was all fake, and if not she had miscarried. But she is full on pregnant the entire film, and since PTA doesn't have to explain everything, it could have just been left to the audience to fill in the blanks.

Do you think her fake pregnancy was to further the appearance of the cause? Or that she ultimately did have the baby at some point?

She was pregnant.
Her pregnancy inhanced her Madonna image in Freddie's perception of her.
That is why he had such a problem listening to her read pornographic prose.
