I didn't see any need for this movie

And that's considering that I really enjoyed the first one. But this one just didn't work me - the jokes were desperate and the plot was thin. Not sure why the movie had to be so short - it felt half-baked, like there is a lot more material missing from it, and Luke Wilson and Thomas Middleditch were underused. Not sure what the point to including their characters was in the first place the way it was done.

It's just a cash grab of course.

I am just really surprised at such a high user rating on Rotten Tomatoes - that was the main reason I wanted to see it. When I was already at the theater, though, I felt like anything else I was interested in seeing (Parasite, JoJo Rabbit, The Lighthouse) would have been a much better choice.

I don't like coming out of the theater feeling that I totally wasted my time.

PARASITE,JOJO RABBIT,THE LIGHTHOUSE AND ZOMBIELAND 2...MAGICAL THEATER?

reply

There are quite a few movie theaters in Manhattan where you can find all four playing.

reply

Enjoy the dam movie. An hour and a half to escape.

reply

Well, not quite: after all the previews I had around 15 minutes before the start of another movie I could watch there, and by then I didn't know yet that I would regret watching this one.

reply

Indeed. A lot of movies these days feel churned out by some cynical director who needs a hit and aims at the lowest common denominator. Everything looks like like an honest effort but it's a cheap imitation of a real film.

reply

Yes. It will be awhile before the studios get inline with having writer that write for minorities. Most movies for now will be heavy for white audience. The theaters have to have movies coming out to stay open and pay the employees.

What are you responding to?

reply

We need at least one woke reply in each thread - it's the new rule.

reply

Parts were great, many parts meh, and some stunk. Still, it was fairly entertaining, and I did not go into it expecting anything close to the original, which was outstanding.

reply

The need is that it is a fun, entertaining movie for non-curmudgeons.

reply

Well, you know, us "curmudgeons" have higher standards.

I like the movie although some of the episodes are too contrived. That scene you mention reminded me of the Bizarro Jerry episode of Seinfeld.
