Anybody know why the credits on IMDb have Taika Cohen rather than Taika Waititi which is his real name? (and also the name on the credits, at least in NZ shows).
He is not an Eastern European Jew and he certainly isn't related to Leonard or Sacha Baron so it seems a bit odd...

Yeah. He started his career in comedy with the name "Taika Cohen". I guess he thought it sounded funny to have a Jewish surname, just like Whoopi Goldberg did. IMDB haven't caught up with his change back, I guess.

Cohen was his last name when he was at school - he changed it to Waititi sometime between Humourbeasts and Eagle vs. Shark (possibly to identify with his Maori lineage?)
