Season 2 launch bombs on Netflix.
I've never watched this show but found this interesting. A complete crash and burn.
The release of season 2 of That 90s Show failed to enter the weekly Top 10 for its first 4 days when only 1.7M CVEs were enough to be in the Top 10.
Why is that the biggest flop of the year so far? Last year, season 1 had a grand opening week, with 10.4M CVEs over its first four days, and still the 8th-best launch for any new Netflix original series released on a Thursday.
Back in 2023, the trajectory for its viewership really slowed down after these first four days, and that was quite uncommon, suggesting a lot of subscribers decided to try the series but also decided to drop out. Well, we now know just how big that drop in viewers was, as season 2 suffered at least an 83% drop for its first four days compared to season 1 (and that’s considering it just missed the Top 10 with 1.69M CVEs, but it might have been even worse).
So, where do we go from there? Well, the series is already renewed for a third part (coming in November), but beyond that, I would be very surprised if it continues with a fourth part.
