It looks like the '70s. Apparently the actual '90s looked too much the same as now, so they went for an older look to still make it seem nostalgic.

The fashion is way, way off. I could go to H&M and pick out outfits that look like they're straight from 1995. And the hair is all wrong as well. A black girl with a huge fro? Unlikely, especially in a small town in Wisconsin.

I went to college (back in the 1990s) with a black girl from a small town in Wisconsin, and she had an afro.

Of course you did, but college students are totally different than teenage girls. I went to school with multiple black girls in the mid 90s and their hair was either straightened, braided or in a tight bun/ponytail. I do remember a biracial girl with looser curls who wore her hair long. But afros just weren't in fashion.

The fashion didn’t feel 90s to me. No baggy pants, JNCO jeans, no nirvana clothes nothing

Maybe I’m just overthinking it it’s just something about the show it doesn’t feel like it’s the 90s.

Because it's not...it's more like early 2000s Disney channel
