Why were they pulled over by the police?* spoiler

They had just got their truck back. Since we know that the chop shop was "black market" and had no title to the truck, they couldn't have phoned it in as "missing". So, why did the police stop them?

Is it commonplace for the police to turn the illegals over to INS?

My guess would be that the cop either noticed that the windshield was missing,
or the license plates may have been missing from the back (the chop shop would
have removed them?).

I'm not crying, you fool, I'm laughing!

They just looked "suspicious" driving around that area at that time. Just one reason for being stopped by the police.

And YES, under the new immigration laws, (in some states) now the police has the obligation to call ICE anytime they "suspect" somebody is an undocumented immigrant.

That's also why he didn't ask the police for help when his truck was initially stolen.

Is this a serious question OP? You try driving around in the middle of the night WITH NO WINDSHIELD, and see how long it takes you to get pulled over. And he had no license, and they couldn't find him in the system. Obviously he's going to get deported.

People find it hard to believe but cops pull people over for little to no reason all the time. I know because it's happened to me and to cars I've ridden in. I had a cop pull me over because he said I didn't signal early enough when turning. Another pulled me over for creeping over the white line while stopped at a stop sign. Both were total BS, he just wanted to run my license to see if I had any warrants. Both times I was coming from playing basketball and had a sleeveless shirt on that showed my tats, my bald head and wearing sunglasses. They thought I looked like a criminal so they stopped me to see if I was. Since I'm not they let me go with just a warning each time.

In the movie once he was pulled over he was screwed. No license, insurance or registration means he's going to get picked up and turned over to ICE.
