There was a post on his blog (http://www.rickygervais.com/thissideofthetruth.php) that mentioned Season 3 would start after the season of Life's Too Short wrapped. (Jan/Feb 2012) I couldn't find that comment now, but there are several references to Season 3 on the blog, mainly talking about finishing touches and promotion.

short answer: not soon enough :D
