Stephen Merchant's stories of his trip to Carnivale and being shut out of a nightclub were good. He gets placed in some funny situations. The beach story and no respect at the nightclub....
You just have to be resigned- You're crashing by design
I have to say I didn't like the beach one too much, but I loved the one about asking the random guy at the pool to watch him as Stephen was watching him.
His stories are absolutely classics! The animation to his Brasil story nearly killed me. I first watched that episode when my husband and I were at a hotel and my husband was asleep. I was trying not to laugh because I didn't want to wake him but in the process I almost broke a rib. I started snorting quietly and my husband opened his eyes and that's when I lost it. He just looked at me and shouted "why are you laughing at me?" but I couldn't answer because I was laughing too hard. He shook his head, said "you are so weird", rolled over and went back to sleep.
I'm not a fan of Merchant's stories. With Karl's stories, I can listen to them over and over again and still find them funny; with Steve's not so much. My problem with his stories is that every one of them sounds like he spent weeks preparing them to be told. With Karl, everything he says sounds spontaneous.
