Judging before seeing it, I didn't think it would be good but once again critics are not helpful.
I rated it 7/10 and would make it 8/10 if the character development was bit better for the Jacob and Lian.
Don't listen to anyone discouraging you before you see it for yourself (as with all other movies).
Ofcourse some won't like it but give it a try
totally agree with you.I actually thought nicholas cage did a fantastic job with his role. I would give it 6.5....it's an ok film.

shareI expected a half decent mediocre film but what I saw was complete garbage. A complete failure from start to end. Bad casting, horrible laughable british accents on the two stars. Directed so badly it made the whole film absurd and ridiculous. And why the *beep* didn't they at least have the chinese speak their native language it would at least have made the film more genuine and interesting. Complete waste of my time. I gave it 2/10 simply because I actually managed to watch it from beginning to end.
A great film I would recommend is The Guest. Now That is a fantastic film.

I kind of agree with you about the native language but I enjoyed this film because it was entertaining, one thing that most films critics rate "good" are not.
I liked the fighting scenes which were better than what many popular movies with 8 or 9 ratings have. Imo
I also liked that this movie blended 2 different things together and made them compete (european knight vs chinese military) I found that enjoyable
I think Hayden did a good job but the guy who writes the story didn't go into much detail about his story (it interested me) and same thing about the Princess..
If you rate this movie 1/10 or so then you must only like the boring artsy fartsy movies... dont you? Anyway I respect your opinion but this thread wasnt to rate it, it was to encourage people to watch it, instead of listening to boring critics like sheep.
I loved Lord of War... and still think Cage can act when in the right environment.
Hayden Christensen never got over being exposed to the terrible director that is George Lucas.
Awful film... cheesy, and worst of all the supporting cast were even worse than the stars. The indian lady for example... she delivers her lines as if she were in a porn film!
