I'm with you, I didn't think it was that bad at all. Hayden Christensen delivered a far more capable performance than anything else I've seen from him, and Nicolas Cage, for the criminally short time he was in it, was amazing in his usual deranged way.
It suffers from shaky, short and choppy camera-work, but the fight scenes themselves are fairly well choreographed and the props and environments are all convincing. Also Hayden had a really metrosexual modern haircut, which was a misstep. And of course, there's the usual caucasian hero bringing justice trope.
You want a bad movie in the same vein as this, just watch Last Knights with Clive Owen. Now that was a fackin mess.
