Plus, there was the episode later where Jane kept thinking she would see him walking away, around buildings, down alleys, etc. As for being recasted, in a way he was with the new girl 'techie'.
I know it's been forever but I still miss him. Their interactions were great! I don't think they've ever been able to get the chemistry (or the writing flow) back. When he first came on the show I "complained" that he seemed too young and inexperienced but then I realized that was a part of his boyish charm. It's really never been the same. I could only get through the first 10 minutes of the "Goodbye" episode. I've still not watched it even though I still have it saved on my DVR. *sigh*
