Why does Nina Holiday

Use her computer standing up.
She must have some sore ole feet when she gets home.

Nice touch introducing the Rizolli & Iles creator at the mystery writers' conference!
Will miss this show on my Monday nights. Plus, I'm a relocated Boston native.

...Use her computer standing up.

I saw a story some time ago about some companies having their employees stand up at their work stations, so that is a real-life thing.

I agree it would be tough on your feet and legs.

It seems to be s "thing" in cop/mystery shows to have IT people work standing up, something I have yet to see IRL. I think it has more to do with the aesthetics of having other cast members standing next to the techie than anything else.

Of course, they also show techies pounding away on keyboards when using computer systems that have graphical interfaces. Not unlike the video terminals that made printer noises in 1970s TV shows.

People at my workplace stand up at their computers. They have those movable workstations that lift up-and-down. Some of them stand most of the day and some of them alternate between standing and sitting. They say it's much better on their backs to work standing up.

If I stood at my pc all day I wouldn't be able to walk to my car come home time.

She doesn't!

If you look carefully you'll see she's sat in a chair that brings her up to a similar height to standing cast members. There's a second such chair on the opposite side of the screen that Frankie sits in.

I work in IT. Most of us have a sit-stand work station.

So do I, but I think my company is too cheap to even consider it

(The previous CEO's idea of workplace enhancement was to cut the cubicle walls down to about 3 ft so that we would "collaborate more". Never mind that in my office people who sit adjacent to one another often work on completely different projects. Fortunately the idea was shelved.)
