Last season of Rizzoli + Isles

Please don't take off Rizzoli & Isles off the air. It is the only good decent cop show on the air. I am disabled and watch it religiously

reply

Have you literally seen anything else?

reply

In your opinion it might not be the best show, but opinions are like *beep* everybody's got one.

And after Castle, POI and Unforgettable, it's another enjoyable show that's geting axed.

reply

TNT should be questioning because the 2 hours of Rizzoli and Isles and Major Crimes are the most popular 2 hours on Cable TV. They were second until Game of Thrones ended. They are not bringing Rizzoli to an end due to ratings. TNT does not feel it fits into their future,

reply

it's because of the new management they have at TNT, I heard the old boss over at TNT resigned and is now replaced by a new boss, who obviously doesn't understand what demographics TNT is targeted towards. The new boss wants to turn TNT into a network for younger audiences, and both R&I and Major Crimes are shows that have mostly older demographics...although I don't understand why they would end R&I but keep MC, because nowadays it seems R&I tend to get higher ratings than MC.

reply

Seems like all cable networks want to be "edgy" these days to attract the coveted younger demographic. Of course, when that group gets older, they'll be ignored, too.

Ten or so years ago, I watched TNT from the time I got up until primetime programming came on at night. They didn't have much original progamming at the time but they had Charmed, ER, Law & Order, NYPD Blue. They had at least 2 hours of each, maybe more. It was great to watch.

Now I don't mind original programming but I do mind being ignored. Obviously TNT will find some idiotic reality shows or scripted shows where the average age of the cast is 16. So, after all these years, as I did with A&E (Arts & Entertainment? Who are they kidding?) I will give up on TNT entirely. So sad😥

reply

My guess is that one of leads (possible Sasha) would not re-up, so they had no choice but to end it.

reply

Well Sasha and some of the other casts seemed disappointed that season 7 will be the last, and from all the reports I've read, it sounds like it was indeed the new boss at TNT who decided to end the show, new TNT boss himself basically said something like "R&I has run its course and it's time to end it" or something along those lines.

reply

The same was said for Mike & Molly, but was there ever a chance that Melissa would Re-up.

reply

a question, why do you think it was 1 of the leads who wanted to leave so they decided to end the show, when all evidence suggests that it was the new boss at TNT who wanted to end the show? There has been absolutely no reports suggesting that either Angie or Sasha wanted to leave, everything points to the new TNT boss.

reply

The show still remains the number one summer show and came back with a short run, to protect the network revenue.

Top shows are usually milked at the end, but not in the case, so a key person on the show has killed it off. Normally talent is the reason why the episode count is reduced to convince them to stay on till the end.

Remember it is normal to hear about the behind the scene issues sometime after the fact.

I would not jump to that conclusion, and that's actually not the case at all, in most cases when a show is reduced it is due to budgetary reasons or ratings, and not necessarily because a cast member wants to leave. And sometimes it's better to end a show when it's still on top, rather than dragging it out too much you risk crashing it to the ground, so I think it's a good thing that they're ending this series on a high note.
Also, in a recent interview with Jordan Bridges (who plays Frankie on the show), he himself also implied that it was the new TNT boss who wanted to end the show and that everyone on the set were very disappointed that season 7 will be the last. I would rather believe all the news reports and what the actors have said, than to make wild assumptions. People will always make rumors and gossip, and there has been a lot of speculation & gossip about tension between Angie and Sasha behind the scenes for a while now, but these are just rumors & gossip for a reason, there's no proof, just people speculating what they want to believe.
