Does anyone know why R&I was canceled?
I love this show and never miss an episode. The cast is great and I'll never forget Lee Thompson Young!

shareBecause Sasha and Angie got tired of the will-they/won't-they drama that they wanted to just end it already...ok maybe not, but I don't think it was canceled. I think it's just ending. All shows have to eventually end.
shareYou could have neglected to post that as it wasn't at all informative.
shareIt was just time...TNT is moving in a new direction, and they want shows that are a little edgier, like "Animal Kingdom." ;)
i wish the show would have gotten picked up somewhere else.... rizzoli and isles is the only reason why i watch TNT

Hmmm..."Animal Kingdom" was a little too "edgy" for me. Maybe I'm a little too old for TNT :)
shareMe too, although I just think it Animal Kingdom is a bad show. I'm a bit tired of all of the shows with the criminal element as the focus.

I found Animal Kingdon amusing -- if the cast of Jackass were a crime family.
shareI think the primary cast members are/were ready to do something else... and TNT is taking their programming in an edgier direction and airing crap I won't watch.
shareWe may never know the real reason for ending Rizzoli and Isles at this particular time, but Rizzoli and Isles, Major Crimes and Murder in the First are the only original shows I watch on TNT. Occasionall I watch a rerun of Grimm or Hawaii Five-O. TNT can become edgier if they want, but I am not getting edgier along with them. None of their new shows appeal to me in any way, shape or form. Nothing about Animal Kingdom looks the least bit entertaining to me. I watch TV to be entertained, and most good dramas have some lighter moments of comedy thrown in. The edgier shows look way too depressing to me. Same goes for USA. All of the shows I loved are gone, with Royal Pains being the last to end. Other than some NCIS reruns and some episodes of CSI with William Petersen still in charge, I am basically done with USA. I have been waiting for the new Ryan Phillipe show that they were advertising to see if it might be good, but every premier date they reported has come and gone with no sign of the show. Not sure if it will even premier this year. I can't stand their reality programming.

Episode 7x11. The killer got less than one minute of screen time after being identified with 8:08 remaining on the shows run time and his motives / methods were never explained. No interrogation or even a discussion about him. The story line was a disjointed pile of S--t. Beginning with the sarcastic family at the funeral, continuing to the prodigal son returning home and the baby getting married. They spent too much time resolving subplots and too little on the weeks case. The killer of half a dozen people got less screen time and explanation than the immigrant family's baby that Moira was treating. Its time to end the show.
I gotta agree...this week's ep was pretty meh compared to the good ep it had last week...although I do like the focus on the characters' personal lives in police procedurals...but as long as it doesn't take away from the crimes. But unfortunately there just wasn't enough focus on the crime this week, there was too much attention on the characters' personal issues with Maura & the family she was helping, Tommy's return and break up with Lydia and the Rizzoli family coming to terms with Jane's decision etc. While the crime itself just seemed like an afterthought, the killer barely had any screentime at all, and his motives were never properly explained, disappointing.
shareI guess they felt they needed one last crime, but I could have done without it and just focus on the cast & them leaving etc. The flashbacks were nice, but I would have liked it to have included Korsak and Frost too

I don't mind the inaccuracy, but I can understand how that aggravates a lot of people.
However, this show is not House M.D, which strangely did pull it's stories from real life events, so I don't expect it to be accurate on medical procedures on a B-PLot sidestory. :)
Miracles do exist, apparently, in TV land.
That's my only possible explanation.

even House had some unrealistic aspects in its writing since it was still a largely fictional show afterall...usually I don't mind all the inaccuracies in fictional shows because they're 'fictional' for a reason, so you really need to suspend disbelief when you watch fictional shows.
shareYou have a good point there. Yeah, I don't tend to mind some of the silliest things TV shows do.

I watched the whole episode and when it was over all I know is that whiny hag mom Bracco made three types of pasta, because she said it over and over again for the full fifteen minutes that she was on screen.
shareI loved the,way they ended it too. Everyone was off in new direction. The only time I teared up was when Jane puts Barry's toy on Frankie's desk. I remember how hard Jane and Vincent took Barry's death. I did too.
shareThis is my first time posting here.I just wanted to say how much I loved the series and I'm really going to miss it. I thought the series finale was wonderful.
shareI think the real reason is the death of the actor who played Frost can't recall him name but after his suicide I don't think they wanted to to continue the show that was such a huge shock for everybody nt just the cast .because he gave no warning or any clue and for me who I am bipolar I am sure I am one person that could know that something was wrong but my case is very different and really don't want to talk about it .
There could be other reason we hard on rumors just like on Castle that Sasha and Angie did nt get along the same with Nathan and Stan however unlike Castle which was canceled because the fans were so pissed off at Stana Katic firing that at least TNT pushed the final season they spent a lot of time showing it over and over and even had the rerun of the final season .
So was it a good and fair ending for the fans I would have to say YES .
I believe this outstanding program was cancelled because it did not follow the Liberal PC guidelines that Hollywood now seems to require of ongoing shows. No homosexual couples, no lesbian couples and most importantly the show could be viewed by the entire family without the concern that every second or third word uttered would be a swear word. Truly a sad state of affairs and a major loss to the viewing public.
shareThat is some nice trolling. You offended everyone!
Liberals, Conservatives, homosexuals, straight people, common sense, and you apparently missed the ending, but hey, whatever, everyone seems to have missed the ending and what it meant.

Lee Thompson Young played Barry Frost, who died at the end of season 4. So, the ending of the show had nothing to do with his death as it continued for three more seasons.
Also, stating the actresses don't get along is nonsense as well. Unless you know them personally, those are just rumors. Not everyone hangs out with the co-workers all of the time.
The show ended because the new head of TNT is an idiot. R & I was frequently one of the top cable TV shows. I think they've shot themselves in the foot with their "edgier" direction.

This show kind of lost its spark after Lee/Barry died. It just didn't feel the same.
shareWhile I liked Rizzoli and Isles (the books probably more), but to me the show started to gradually go down hill when more time was spent around the Rizzoli family stories and not the actual investigations. It would be like Midsommer Murders when 60 percent of time is spent within family drama (however, maybe it is so now, I don't know, did not watch after John Nettles left the series).
Also, why the show really ended is anyone's guess. My guess, is that the main actors have outgrown it.
In vino veritas
