Is it me, or Hollywood rarely makes movies about two guys being friends?

I could be wrong (feel free to correct me), but this kind of film seems to be a rarity: a movie in which the central conflict deals with the friendship between two men. When Hollywood does the guy friends thing, it's usually about a group of guys in highly comedic, sometimes outlandish scenarios (Tha Hangover, Grown Ups, Last Vegas, Wild Hogs, Old Dogs). I wonder if it's because one-on-one guy friendships are still seen as “weird” by some people? In any case, are there any other films like that? The only one I remember is Brian's Song from the seventies.

Owen Wilson starred in a few movies with "two guys being friends":
Shanghai Noon, Shanghai Knights, The Internship, Wedding Crashers.

Wedding crashers wasn't about two guys being friends, it was about Owen Wilson banging Regina George.

I get what you're saying. It's not a "buddy movie" like the ones people have suggested. It's nuanced, like real friendship.

I think you are right; it seems more likely to be seen on tv instead of film.

For some reason what comes to mind are movies from 1994 haha. The friendship in Shawshank Redemption between the Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins' characters is really poignant. The scene where they reunite gets me every time.

I also like the friendships depicted in Forrest Gump with Forrest & Bubba and Forrest & Lt. Dan. And then I like the Vincent & Jules relationship in Pulp Fiction. Not that the actual friendship is that deeply explored, but some of the best scenes are the two of them talking.
