I can’t think of how either. It’s well made but 18 million seems a lot.

The Rock demanded a bigger salary.

He actually cut his arm off for the role. The rest was for medical care and cosmetic surgery to get him right again.

There were quite a few special effects involved, particularly with the flash flood and all the hallucinatory scenes. Figuring that Franco’s salary was around $5 mil, plus paying the staff’s salaries, marketing etc, and it can easily add up to 18 million.
