Anyone know why ......

...... Hugh Jackman and Jack Black (possibly other actors I didn't recognize) were in the scene near the end with people standing around, or sitting on, the large sofa? No mention was made of them in the credits, either credited or uncredited. Did they just stop by during filming and Danny Boyle used them for cameos?

reply

I didn't notice them. I read somewhere that the scene was supposed to be representative of his family and close friends. Am not sure why those guys you mentioned would be there.

reply

My thoughts too, and I had to look at the scene several times to make sure what I was seeing, and they're definitely there. No mention is made in any extras I've seen so far as to why they'd be there.

reply

All I can think is that they may have become friendly with him since he became a celebrity himself: i.e. over the past 10 years.

reply

I admire what he's been able to accomplish since he lost his hand and forearm. Did you happen to see him on "Minute to Win It" last year? He's got this amazing ability to focus on whatever he's doing, and accomplish feats that anyone with both arms would find difficult, or impossible.

Possibly Hugh Jackman and Jack Black felt the same way I do, and wanted to appear uncredited in the film. It'll be interesting to see if there are any other theories posted here, or if someone knows the real story.

Neighturboy I did have a really close look at that scene again today and stilled it. I have to admit after close scrutiny, I couldn't recognise them. That's not to say they're not there, as I'm not the greatest with faces. But I personally couldn't see them.

reply

Will check it out again and give you the exact time for each face later today. I do recall that Jackman is completely clean-shaven, beard-free, and hard to recognize, based on his recent film roles, and the looks he's sporting in them. We're accustomed to recognize him as Wolverine, and he's far from that "look" here.

OK, checked my Blu-ray copy and found the scene I was referencing at 1:09:48 where you can see Jack Black sitting on the sofa next to Aron's Dad (Treat Williams) on his Dad's left. At the same time you can see Hugh Jackman standing directly behind Aron's Dad, and you can see a close-up of Hugh at 1:09:55-:56. There is another larger sofa scene at the end of the movie (1:28:46-:49), but neither Jack or Hugh is in that pic, although there are "ringers" who look like them.

Sorry for mis-leading on my original post as to the time this occurs in the film.

reply

The one sitting down is clearly not jack black and the one behind while does look similar is definitely not Hugh Jackman. They do have similar features tho. Jackmans chest would have been bigger as well.

You would have an easier time trying to say the guy with the red flannel and hat is Mike rowe from dirty jobs. Its not tho.

I could be wrong but I think everyone in that scene is his real family. Or that could just be the final scene. Not sure but just check the trivia it should be in there.

Not talking abut the final scene in the film, but the one occuring about 23 minutes prior to the end of the movie. Check the actual time in my previous post, review that ..... and I think you'll agree.

reply

I was looking at the shot in the 109 minute. Its definitely not jack black and its not Hugh Jackman. What I said was I believe its the guys actually family just like what they did in the end of the movie.
