I actually bought this movie 2 years ago and only just recently watched it. Mainly because of the amputation scene, I was scared to watch it. If you want to know the story behind the movie, NBC did a special on Aron's experience just 6 months later. Aron goes back to Blue John Canyon and retraces his steps throughout the six days he was trapped there, actually going back and standing on top of the boulder that trapped him, his blood still on the wall. It's on youtube. I actually watched it before I watched the movie. Here's the link to part 1 of the NBC special. There are 6 parts total. It's really emotional, especially when he sees the spot he was trapped for the first time since the accident.

Because it's directed by Danny Boyle. One of the true great visionaries working today. The music he incorporates into his films, esp with how their shot and edited are outstanding.

He obviously gets stuck with the rock. But his mind wanders, daydreams, fantasizes. If you've seen Trainspotting, you'll know what I'm referring to.
