All is lost
How do you think this compares to the Lost film?
shareAll is Lost is fictional, so it lacks that essential factor that there was an almost impossible to survive situation, the guy survived, and it really happened. My emotional reaction to this is the same as for Touching the Void - a documentary about a famous mountaineering accident (with some reenactment) - which is that at the crucial moment of rescue I completely dissolve into tears. And All is Lost simply doesn't affect me that way. I don't know if All is Lost could have done better to flesh out the family background the way 127 Hours does, but of course the whole conceit is that it is a one man film, so that route to emotional connection wasn't open to the filmmakers.
