Could've used the slippery stuff to reduce friction b/w hand + rock

I would've jerked it in the bottle, gathered around 10ML of it and then poured it between the hand and the rock. Not saying it would have worked, but it would be worth trying.

No i'm just saying thats what I wouldve done in that situation.

Jojo, I'm not saying it would have worked either (I doubt it), but it's an interesting idea for a desperate situation.

And you might be interested in another disaster/survival story: the 2014 novel "The Martian" by Andy Weir.

It's fiction, but the character in the novel has to survive a cold desert in much harsher environs and for much longer: on Mars, for a year.

Fascinating ideas about engineering, science, and toughness of mind.

I have no personal commitment to "The Martian" and I'm not hawking it; I just enjoyed it. I appreciate anyone who writes seriously about Aron's horrific situation.

10MIL ? He must have lost about a litre of blood and that wasn't enough lubricant to get him free I can't see extra 10MIL getting him out. It appeared the rock wouldn't be moved even if people found him I doubt they would have been able to get him out. They would probably have to leave him and come back with a crew to smash the rock.

According to Wikipedia it took 13 men, a winch and a hydraulic jack to move the boulder so that [the remains of] Ralston's arm could be removed.

He was smart he was going to masturbate when he was watching the video he and the girls made in the dome but he stoppes and said don't, don'. I'm sure he realized that would of expelled so much energy and made him that much more thirsty/hungry from losing that energy.

The slippery stuff in question starts getting sticky very quickly, then dries. Maybe you don't come here often?
