I don't know if this particular story is true, but it sure reminded me of the Austrian father who imprisoned his daughter.

The name 'Fritz' must've given it away. No really I hope this is not inspired by the Joseph Fritzl case, because the real life story is about 100 times more interesting than the fictional version of the story.

The true story cannot be the one involving the Choates. Check the dates - the story on the Choates came out 3 months ago (2011) and the movie came out in 2010.
