What is it with the monsters?

It seems like every movie nowadays is casting the same monster/creature with slight variations. Hell even the monster in the new Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children uses it.

Then older movies like Grave Encounters, Quarantine, etc.

It's ridiculous.

He must be the only monster working in Hollywood at the moment. LOL

It's kind of like how so many slasher villains were the same kind of thing after Michael Myers and Leatherface - a big scary-looking guy in a mask. You get one look that's successful and everyone tries to copy it with the only real effort at variation being to make it so it's not copyright infringement.

Very true, although at least with the masked villains there was a level of anonymity. But I agree it was totally overdone.

Well in Blair Witch this monster was all practical, no CGI was used, which at least allows it to stray away from a lot of other movies that don't put ANY effort in and just make the creatures ENTIRELY CGI.
