Same Exact Movie

Except with three more people, a drone and two quick glimpses of the witch-save your money!!

reply

So it's not the exact same movie after all, then?

reply

hence the word "except"

reply

Did you see the first one? Just off the top of my head, no one crawled through a tunnel of pulled plant matter out of their skin in the first film.

reply

yeah, dummy-the actors are different too-sigh...

reply

but they each had two eyes and one nose like the actors did in the first film so clearly it's just TOO SIMILAR. -sigh...

reply

Its ok to ask filmmakers to raise the bar when making films-we dont have to mindlessly eat up everything they *beep* out...

reply

So it's the same exact movie, except for all of the many differences and additions the filmmakers made.

reply

theres only a few differences-maybe see it instead of being a dumb asss on here?

reply

I saw both films, and while there are similarities, there are plenty of differences.

Maybe you should watch both movies before coming on here and making claims without providing any proof?

reply

my proof is that I saw both movies and theyre the same movie with 6 actors instead of 3, you get a few glimpses of a naked witch and there's a drone-thats about it. Maybe your bar for entertainment is lower, I suspect...the movie is an utter failure because it is THE SAME movie-why are you defending crap? are you relate dot the producers?

reply

I have nothing to do with the producers, but I think you have a relation with someone that is against this film with your viewpoint. There are similarities between the films, and there are also differences. Yes, BW is similar to BWP, which it should be since it is a sequel. I suspect that you haven't seen BWP for many years (if ever) and that you didn't see BW you are just reading other people's comments about it. Sorry, but that's how you're coming off - your comments don't seem to be well-informed.

reply

Huh? Majority hate the movie-critics, audience-that's why it tanked-what are you talking about? I have seen the original ten times at least (I LOVE the original)-I know it well. I saw the new one last week because I was excited about it. That's how Im coming off? WTF are you talking about? I didn't see it because I think its a rip off and you did see it because you like it? dude-youre *beep* stupid
Its the SAMNE MOVIE!!!!
Prove you saw it!

reply

It's already made a profit, so it's not tanking. It's not making as much money as they hoped for, but it's already made money. You say you love the first movie and I want to believe you, but your previous statements about BW being identical to BWP make that claim suspect. Sorry that I pointed out that your claims were the ones that came off as stupid and you felt the need to attack me.

Prove that I saw the movie? How am I supposed to do that? Anything I said you would say "You got that from Wikipedia!" or "You heard that from someone else that saw the movie!" Do you want a screenshot of my movie stub?

Man, chill out. Sorry that you posted a comment and that someone called you on it. Welcome to the internet, since this was obviously the first time you ever posted anything if this was the first time that someone posted a follow-up disagreeing with you.

reply

No, it tanked badly. Previous movie made hundreds of millions. This one will make a few million so its a HUGE disappointment (and the way the movie biz works on a movie like this-they expected to make sequels which dooms it-an entire franchise killed).
Only you think my claim was suspect-no one liked this movie-even hard core fans. It was just a rehash-same exact plot with two or three MINOR differences.
I attacked you because your claim was indeed stupid...
Yeah-first time on the net! Its pretty cool! Maybe you need to realize that when you make a insipid stupid claim supporting a movie that is a carbon copy of a huge hit made over a decade ago, you will be bashed for that idiocy.

reply

The first movie made hundreds of millions because it was unique and a phenomenon and there was nothing else like it. The second one, which everyone hated, made $47 million on a $15 million budget, so even it was a success. This movie has made $28 million on a $5 million budget. So while it is a disappointment, it is not a flop as it has made its budget back many times over.

And as I pointed out, it's a film in a series, so of course it is going to have similarities to the first film in the series. But it also has differences. So it's actually your claim that is stupid. Sorry, the truth hurts.

The only one here bashing someone for their idiocy is you and you're bashing yourself. It's kinda sad to watch. A bit funny too though.

reply

ohmygod youre so dumb-you don't get the movie biz at all. You don't even have facts correct!
The movie has made 28 million worldwide-correct. On a 5 million budget but advertising and marketing is upwards of 7 or 8 million. So, the movie made about 16 million. That's NOTHING. Its a flop because, as I said, this movie was expected to make tens of millions. It killed the franchise so a HUGE FLOP indeed.
No, idiot, sequels are supposed to add to the story, to enhance, to open it up-this did not accomplish that. Is Empire Strikes back the same as Star Wars? Is Godfather 2 the same as the first one? Even Friday the 13th-is part two the same? NO-because they added Jason-even on that very basic horror movie level, it failed!!
It is the exact same movie with a few slight differences. It failed on every level.
Maybe stop mindlessly giggling and actually add something intelligent to the conversation.
I have the majority on my side-the movie failed-all of those who saw it, hated it and felt ripped off.
I suspect youre just some dumb kid born after the original because you surely don't get it.

reply

The definition of a flop is if a movie doesn't make a profit. The movie made a profit in its first weekend, advertising budget included. So you're wrong on that.

It did not kill the franchise yet. Everyone said Book of Shadows killed the franchise, and look, we got another film. So wrong again.

Yes, sequels are supposed to add to the story. And this one did that. We got more information about the woods, the witch, Heather's brother. Did you sleep through the movie? Wrong again.

The movie was a disappointment from the studio's standpoint because they wanted it to open at number one and much more money. But it has already made a profit. The studio did not lose money. Another wrong answer.

"I suspect youre just some dumb kid born after the original because you surely don't get it." I saw the original in the theater. So wrong again. Wow, you're really bad at this.

reply

Have you found the advertising budget? I haven't been able to. I'd really like to know what it is. Could you link to where you found it?

reply

Nope-its not the definition at all. It means failure, which this movie is.
The franchise is dead for now-maybe reboot in ten years.
Nope-this one added nothing.
It made a very slight profit-big failure considering the original made 100s of millions.
Almost as bad as you! You haven't proven anything. Movie is still a flop. The franchise has been killed for the next ten years and nothing was gained by this whole experience!
Why are you fighting for this awful movie? Are you whoring yourself out to the producers or something? Are you in it?

reply

Prod. budget: 5 million
WW earnings: 30 million as I type this.

The studio recoups, on average depending on the deal and the tiered releasing: 50$

So 15 million recouped. Minus 5 for the production itself.

10 million left. Minus: we'll say the marketing budget was 5 million. Undoubtedly more, but we'll stick with 5 for the sake of argument.

5 million left. Minus cost of printing and delivery. Now it's been a few years since I checked, but I remember the cost per print was around 2 grand a piece. 2K x 3000 screens is 6 million bucks.

-1 million. That's without taking into account foreign dubbed prints cost more, but since its never were *beep* in non-english countries, we'll forget that.

This thing can only hope to break even at best with home media and tv/netflix rights are factored it. Given the poor word of mouth, I would not bet on it.

reply

Thanks for the breakdown-im really disappointed :(

reply

I agree. I thought it was a letdown....didnt see the trailer, but heard about the plot. It just seem to me another movie of people getting lost away from the campsite. I was hoping for more of a resolution of what happened to Heather. At this point I would much rather see a preguel, but since the last 2 bombed, I doubt it. The original was fun. I cant believe they screwed this up twice

reply

I thought it started off well-and then in the middle I started getting worried-bummer

reply

I went in wanting and thinking I would like it...I had only seen Book of Shadows once, in the theater when it came out, and I may have enjoyed that more. I'm sad this may have killed the franchise..it was an interesting story.

reply

3 glimpses. The tree, the hallway and the attic. All creepy.

reply

The best description I've heard of it is it's The Force Awakens of the Blair Witch Project.

perfect quote

reply

Nah...not really...the first movie was perfection for one thing. This one has money-seeking Hollywood all over it.

To me it felt like like I was watching a reboot.
