This movie was more of an X-files episode than a Horror film sequel
Time traveling is a plot device used in Science Fiction / Alien abduction movies and not really used in ghost / horror movies, even the X files had episodes of time traveling or people spending days in what seemed to everyone else to be only hours.
If this movie was an X file episode it would have all the details of an alien encounter:
* the bright light, the sound coming out when the light showed up (like a ship)
* the fact that no bodies are found, EVER, which would not suggest ghost or witches but rather Alien abduction.
* the fact that the creature in the woods looked like an alien instead of a demon or spirit.
* GPS and other devices going whacky ( not working correctly or at all )
*Time Displacement, the Redneck and his girlfriend claim they were in the woods for 5 day and Lane's appearance at the end suggested that he was moving forward in time faster than everyone else was....
The writers who wrote this movie did such a lousy job at writing a blair witch sequel that they ended up creating an alien movie by accident.... How do you mess up so bad? you get hired to create a witch ghost entity movie and you come out with something that resembles an alien movie more....
so finally the end product is a sequel to a "90's" form of entertainment, not the Blair Witch Project, but rather the X-files....
