Overlooked

Blair Witch is definitely more of a “controversial” honorable mention / overlooked flick pick. Disliked by “consensus”, the Adam Wingard reboot or sequel gets special points for being clever. Really clever. Clever about what it was and how it was. Being another bigger than the original type movie was disappointing, showcasing stunts, scares and gimmicks that represent most of what is potentially wrong with modern filmmaking. Being less a horror and more a burgeoning romance where deep feelings and wantings are revealed slowly and through horrific scenarios was what brought me around by its end. All that new camera tech brought to this found footage amounted to zilch, but the expression of the characters inner goals and even subconscious desires has held my interest since release. Blair Witch may not be what we were expecting, but it was something of a wholly intriguing sort. A clever sort, yes. http://www.cutprintfilm.com/features/overlooked-2016-blair-witch-elvis-nixon/
